Travel Safety

1. My insurance (Anthem BCBS) does not cover immunizations unless there is a CDC advisory for the area (I will check for these :).  Looks like most insurance companies do not cover travel immunizations. Cost out of pocket: $90/doctor visit + $70-100 per shot.

2. My insurance covers foreign medical care as "in network" - but I will have to pay foreign medical provider myself, and submit a claim in the US afterwards.

3. MEDEVAC. My insurance covers up to $3,000/year for "air ambulance". Knowing my mom's story in Austria, we may need more like $20,000 if things go sour (for the helicopter and a jet back to the US). May want to get a supplement.
